I've tried importing an audio file and it keeps telling me it needs to convert the file, but when I hit open or convert nothing happens. I've tried a wav file, mp3, and an mp4. I've done this before and have never had this problem, although I think it was an older version of PT. I'm on 7.3.

Yeah, probably that too....

I'm opening up a new session, creating new track, going to "Import", selecting Audio, going to audio file I'm trying to import. Like I said, I've tried MP3, MP4, and Wav....it brings up the import window but gives me a message saying file will need to be converted because it's not a file compatible with pro tools. There's a "convert" button, it does nothing. Tried hitting "open", nothing.

So your process should be.....

1.) File -> Import
2.) Select the audio you want to import
3.) Convert all
4.) Then click ok
5.) PT will ask you where you want to save the imported tracks. Defaults to the session audio file folder. Click save.
6.) You will then get a prompt to start the import file at the begining of the track etc.....

From there you should be laughing.

I've made it to #3....and like I said, I hit convert all and nothing happens. Also, there is no "ok" button, just "cancel" and "open" at the bottom. So, I never make it to the destination part. Something's obviously not happening like it's supposed to when I hit "convert".

Are the audio files showing up in the right hand 'Regions to Import' list before you hit 'Done'?

yes, the region shows up in the box, but again, there is no "done" option. The only buttons at the bottom are "open" and "cancel". I'll try to provide a snapshot tonight.

Ok....so, because of time constraints I had to call and use the pay phone support. It's because my PT version 7.3.1 doesn't jive with my OS 10.5.8. It took me this to realize it because everything else runs fine with it...so.....another $150 to upgrade PT. Grrrr......
