I am in the process of setting up my home studio and I want to have 24 simulatious ins, so I can record a load of synth, drum machines, samples ect, at the same time and onto their own track in protools.

I am planning to have a 24 chnl analog desk (A&H or similar) to add that analog warmth and nice EQ to the tracks. I then need an interface to take the 24 direct outs from the desk and record into the DAW.

I have recently bought a Tascam US24000 control surface so I can mix 'in the box' but using auto fader/pan.

I know HD would be the answer but I dont want to spend £3000+ on the interface.

Is there anyway I can chain 3 8 chnl interfaces to get the 24 chnls I am looking for?

You can have 18 which is enough for most of us. I would like to see 24 someday.

18 may be enough for tracking, but I'd certainly like more too for mxing etc.

Not sure why we see things like the profire 2626 when we can't utilize all these inputs.

These interfaces are not made for PT only.

Yeah fair enough.....but they are made by M-Audio, and one could easily assume the M-Audio flagship software the M-Powered version of protools is what the interface is optimized for.

Oh well.....

Digidesign and Pro Tools and their interfaces are their flagship. M-audio and M-powered are their cousin. The best part is though, that with m-audio you get more when you leave PT, so it's a win win. IMO

True.....point taken.

I guess I'm just a little dirty cause I really want to stay with PT, yet there is the odd reason why I should/may end up converting to something else.
