I recently upgraded from PT 7.4 to v8.
While I really like the new features, I'm stunned by the amount of instability the upgrade has introduced to my world.
I spent a lot of time following the trouble shooting guides and searching through this forum for resolution and am still largely at the same place I was a week ago. What's frightening to me is that many people with the same problems appear to still be fighting the issues after many months.
My biggest issues are:
• [Error 6101]
• MIDI notes sporadically and randomly sound like they've been doubled (no actual doubling; i.e., not the problem with simultaneous usage of both USB and MIDI connections)
• [Error 6101]
• Playback engine not consistently responsive to volume automation
• [Error 6101]
• [Error 6101]
I never had any significant issues with PT prior to upgrading, nor have I changed anything about my system, the attached [Error 6101] peripherals and / or instruments.
Like I stated earlier, I've [Error 6101] been through a myriad of troubleshooting techniques discussed in troubleshooting guides and this forum.
What is the prognosis on the current version of PT?
Is there any hope that these issues will be truly addressed?
Here's my system info:
• Mac OS 10.5.8, 2x 2GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 4GB Ram
• Pro Tools 8.0.3
• M-Audio FW 1814 (1.9.3)
