When i started the Mac I am not able to mount my Avid drive 9GB. When i use the disk first aid I am given an error message "invalid Key length".

What may be the problem due to.

I am using the Mac G3 with OS Version 8.5

Have you ever been able to mount this drive?
If you have then I would take the utility that you used to format the drive and try to mount it through that utility. If that works then you might want to update the driver to make sure that it is working properly.

If you were never able to mount the drive then I would assume that there is no data on it yet and you might want to reformat the drive. This should help.

Hi,

We have been using the drive for more than two years and we have never experienced such problems. We are having more than 7GB of recorded materials in the drive.

Another question is if we update the Driver, would we lose the recorded materials in the drive.

I recently had a drive go bad and exhibit very similar behaviour... TechTool Pro 3.0.2 fixed the drive. There are certain utilities I highly recommend you keep around: DiskWarrior, TechTool Pro, Norton & FWB HDT.

Good luck.
