Can I use Digital Performer with 888/24 and is there a latency problem?

I'm looking into buying the Protools system and I've familiarized myself with Digital Performer and they have a better midi department.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The only way that I know of it working is if you have a Pro Tools core card and farm card or just a Mix Core card. I've used DP with my PT setup but it is only running the front end the horsepower and I/O is Pro Tools. Really no way around that. The Digi hardware is not setup to support other software.
