Here's an interesting one...
We just installed a new PT/AMIII machine on a G4/450 MP. I added an Orange Micro SCSI->Firewire converter witha Jaz drive on the other end. Ran Fine (even the Jaz). THEN, I replaced the Jaz with a Yamaha CDR400-series SCSI burner. Pro Tools now locks up on launch, right when it tries to load DAE! Disabling those extentions was the only thing I had to do to get it to run. Is there some obscure known-conflict here???

This is ODD!

Possible SCSI termination problem? I have an Orange Micro SCSI card, and it is really picky about termination. I had to go into it's firmware update program and tell it what ID's are wide and which are narrow, and it works fine. I know PT 5.01 scans the SCSI busses on launch, so this could be the problem.

There's a chance, I guess...
The Jaz had a built-in switch for it. This drive has a passive terminator on the back. I don't believe there are any other options. Maybe active would help? Anything else?

Thanks,
