hi all,

im running PT 6.4 and have a Roland JV-90 on loan from a friend and i was wondering how i can use the sounds from it in midi. i've already set up with the FM7 and the PRO-53 and it works fine, but it has some great sounds itself i'd like to use somehow. what steps do i need to take to accomplish this? do i need to buy another midi cable?

thanks so much!

How are the other modules hooked up to PT? Do you have a midi controller? Or are they connected directly to PT?

you will probably have to record the audio from the roland into PT by triggering the sounds using midi

i have the roland jv-90 connected directly to the 002r. i dont have any other modules; the sounds are on the board.

turn local keyboard off (which i think you probably already have done since you got it to work with soft synths). set up a midi track so the output goes back to the keyboard. then select your sounds using that PT midi track (channel output / program output). now you can record and edit midi in PT, and it will trigger the keyboard's internal sounds.

to record the sound, just hook the audio outputs of the keyboard to digi inputs and record like any other audio track.

on your Jv-90 there should be local control/internal, and external control. this tells the keyboard where the midi info is coming from. local meaning from the keys, and external meaning coming from another source like anoter midi keyboard or midi enabled software.
if you can record midi notes from your keyboard into PT, you should be able to play them back through your Jv90. setup an aux track to monitor the input from the keyboard and once your fine with it, you can setup an audio track to record it
