Hi. I am running a DIGI 001 with a P4 1.6 and 512 RAM. I bog my system down regularly. If I added another 512 RAM would it improve my overall performance? How much?
Thank you in advance.

Depends on what you're doing. If you're just using ProTools and plugins, 512M is enough, and more won't make any difference. If you're running sample players (reason, kontakt, etc.) with large samples loaded, more RAM might help. Otherwise, you're just hitting the limitation of your CPU speed. Best you can do then is learn how to optimize your use of plugins, and/or replace the computer.

Unless you're getting bogged down using heavy soft synths and such, you probably won't see much of a difference above 512.
Most likely you are seeing a need for more processing power with that 1.6 CPU.
We have all taken a performance hit with each successive PT upgrade.... I lost tracks with both 6.1 and 6.4 and I'm working with 2GHz.
I'm assuming you're using 6.x... you'd see better performance in that speed range with PT 5.3, but staying with your current setup, you're most likely in need of a CPU upgrade.

Damn, tele... we replied at the exact same time.
Great minds run together, eh?
