Hey all,

Here's the lead up to the scenario:

Bought a new Allenstein 64 bit Athlon.

Reinstalled ProTools. Leapt over the DEP BSOD scare.
ProTools works fine. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

Problem here...

I can't get the Digi001/WaveDriver to become
the default audio device.

When I go to Control Panel>Sounds>Audio,
the only playback device selectable is the
SoundMax card that my computer came with.

I tried Rail Jon's MME Helper program. Added both T-RackS and
Winamp....and still no dice.

Now, Fruityloops seems to be able to find the Digi box
all on its own and works fine.

This seems to be the last hoop I need to jump through
to get my new computer set up. Any suggestions/ideas
would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks,

Only one app can use the WaveDriver at a time.. make sure no other app is open using the Digi hardware. Once added into the opt-in list you should see your Digi hardware when opening the prefs in those apps. Boot up with your hardware powered up and check again.

Thanks Jon.

I have rebooted and unfortunately, still nothing.

And also, I have only tried to use one app at a time.

As far as I can discern, I need to get the Digi001
to show up in the control panel>sound>audio area.

As of now, it's just the SoundMax card. (I tried disabling
that but that didn't either).

I know it's all functional and working because it
works with ProTools and as well as with Fruityloops.

Thanks again,

-todd

If you have winamp.exe added to your opt-in list, run WinAmp and enter Ctrl+P... look for Plug-ins->Output Select DirectSound or WaveOut and then press the Configure button.. you should see the Digidesign hardware listed as an option.

If you don't, then uninstall Pro Tools, search for the file dalwdm.sys delete all occurences, reboot and install Pro Tools 6.1.1 (or later), reboot and then install the WaveDriver 6.1.1

Jon,

As usual, thanks for your help!

I've tried everything except for the uninstall
and reinstall bit. I'm going to go home now
and try that.

Hopefully, that'll do it!

Rail Jon..........You "rail" good!

I went home...uninstalled and reinstalled ProTools.
Blammo! The DigiBox shows up as one of my Windows Audio devices.

Go to Winamp...Bang...there it is.

T-RackS still not working.

Uninstall and Reinstall that...Crash, Boom, Bang!

Works like a charm.

Now why any of this works...I have NO idea.

These PC's and all their drivers and registry junk, etc.
are delicate little creatures that I can't fathom.

But I do know that without the knowledgeable, friendly and
helpful people out on the DUC....I would be freaking lost
and I'm not kidding.

Technology is great because of what it let's us create
musically, visually, artistically, etc.

But the most killer app, as far as I can see, is that
of hyper-spatial communication of the species.

Bigger than Guttenberg's invention, in my opinion.

Now...if you're still with me...the bottom line
is Thank you Jon and everyone that doles out
such patient and crucial information.

Happy New Year everyone and may this coming
year be 1000 times more creatively inspired
than the last.
