Why no gridlines on the waveform?!

With Pro Tools 5.3.3 (m-box) I can't see any gridlines on the waveform. Only in the background. Know what i mean? I want to be able to see, whether my playing is behind the beat etc..

Preferences/display "draw grids in edit window" doesn't solve this problem. Doesn't PT 5.3.3 support this function or what?

None of the protools versions that I am aware of display the grid on top of the waveform. It is always in the background.

The common workaround has been to insert an empty aux track right next to the track you are working with, so you can see the grid better. Once you use the software enough, and get used to how the grid is displayed, you might find that you don't need it. I did.
