Why can't I bus channels 1 - 16 to outputs 1 - 16?

I am trying to confirm a bussing issue. I want to bus channels 1-16 to analog and digital outputs 1-16. My reasoning is because I want to run 16 channels through my DA7 mixer and then re-record back to the 001 via the SPDIF input for my stem mixes with out getting a feedback loop. I read in the PDF manual that multi track bussing is only avaiable in the TDM/HD systems. I can bus internally but not externally

Is this true? Do I have any other options besides upgrading?

i can't run PT right now, but can't you just run a send right to an output? does this not do what you need?

Simply assign each track to a separate output.. if the outputs aren't listed... add them in your I/O Setup dialog.

why don't you just set physical inserts for the tracks? that way the signal travels through your external gear and comes back, and you can buss it inside protools and record whatever mixes you want to.
