I have a Digi002 without the bomb factory bundle, and instead of getting an outboard equalizer I've decided to buy a plug-in. My limit is $300 and I have Fxpansion's VST to RTAS Adapter. I would really appreciate any suggestions on an EQ plug-in. Thank you

You don't say what your source material is ie: acoustic, electric, Eletronica.....

but some nice options;

SV-517 Equaliser - VST - Musical EQ - US$ 239.99
http://www.sonalksis.com/

Elemental Audio - Firium Linear Phase EQ - RTAS - US$ 129.99
http://www.elementalaudio.com/

There are many others.
I suggest you dowload demos of these plugs and try em out

Sorry, I record rock/pop music. I mic: electric and acoustic guitars, vocals, drums, and run bass direct. I dont know much about equalizers and what the differences between them are. Im trying to get rid of the "boominess" from certain instruments, add headroom, add clarity and punch, and generally tweak sounds a bit. A single eq that could be used for guitars, vocals, drums and bass would be nice, but multiple EQ plug-ins would be just fine too.

I dont know about the prices since I live in europe. I think these are more expensive than what you are looking for.
I am a big fan of the McDSP EQs. The are very user friendly and feel and sound very nice. I dont expect everyone to share my point of view since I dont know of many who use them. I like them better than the Ren-EQs, Q-EQs and alot more then the red focusrites. That being said, the renesaince EQs are very popular. I personally enjoy the user interface of the mcDSPs more.

Anyone have any opinions on these?

I totally second the above opinion. McDSP rules and elemental audio EQS are killer for the price.

but I definately suggest looking into the Sony EQ and URS EQ!

I am not ranting about Waves but I thing they do too much their ´own thing´ lately.
Just take a look at their iLok support and their update prices. McDSP NEVEr EVER charged ANY upgrade fees.
It may be faster it may be better but it´s def.
another issue for you to take care about. Almost seems to me Waves is becoming the SCSI of Plug-ins.

anybody have anything to say about Antares Filter? I'm looking for an eq plug with good band pass and notch filters...it's only 179 from the digistore!!

I was really amazed by the SV-517 Equaliser. Very musical EQ.
Really nice and smooth.

the antares filter (demo) always crashed my PT.

Personally I prefer the sound of the ohmforce filterdesign of Frohmage (Free from www.ohmforce.com (http://www.ohmforce.com)) / and Quadfromage over Antares.

as alwayas: TRY THE DEMOS!

I know its outside of your price range, but I would sincerely consider getting Sony Oxford bundle for LE. It is about $660, but contains what I think is the best sounding eq plaug available and also 2 other incredible plugs.

just a thought.

I use the Waves Q10 pretty much all the time. It's a nice EQ. YOu can get the Waves NAtive POwer Pack for about 350, comes with some other good stuff too (compressors, L1 Ultramaxamizer, etc.).

As a freebie i'd recommend everyone gets jK's free pluggo jK_Philter. You need to install (free) Pluggo runtime, follow directions there : http://www.sonoria.pl/jk/pluggox.html

Nothing like a five-band Pultec on your two-buss

I just got wave's platinum this week, and I gotta say that I love the waves eq's. The linear phase eq is impressive, but a lot more cpu hungry than I thought it would be. The Q-10 is great too. I'm absolutely in love with the ren channel, since I use a ren eq and a ren compressor on just about every track to begin with.

We used to use metric halo's channel strip in school, and I really liked that eq, one of these days i'm gonna get it for my own system. I think they have a version of it for around 300.
