MIDI control for audio tracks

ok so i don't have the cash to throw down on a command8 or somethin of the like at the moment. however i have this radium49 sitting in front of me with the 8 faders and 8 knobs waiting to be assigned to different things in pro tools.... the question is how do i do it?? right now i just have the radium connected via midi. do i have to connect it via usb as well?? basically - i would LOVE to be able to control track levels using the faders on my keyboard. if nothing else, volume levels... until i can afford a command8.
