Just curious...
In people's opinion, is the BF76 Compressor that comes with the Free Bomb Factory Plug-ins any good?

Many thanks for your thoughts...

It used to be part of the Bomb Factory Classic Compressors bundle with the LA2A (now BF-2A) and 1176 LN (now BF76) listed for $595. Yes it sounds nice. Not sure why Digi decided to give it away for free, maybe because of the dispute between them and Universal Audio.

How about:
I have downloaded, I have installed, I have checked, BUT...
I admittedly don't know much about compressors, how they work, and what makes one better than another one, which is why I asked for others' opinions. Obviously, my own experience will be the ultimate one, but since I have no reference point by which to judge, it's nice to have some constructive insight...

Hi Andrew!

So if you checked it out...

How does it sound to you?
Have you got any reference compressor? Any plugs or hardware?
If not, download the waves plugs as a demo, installl and compare the digi compressor, the BF76, the rencomp and the c1...

In my opinion the BF76 is VERY useful.
It sounds a bit rougher, more aggressive than the waves stuff.
I use it a lot on vocals and bass guitars.
For overhaeds and other drum signals I prefer the rencomp.

I agree. I think the BF76 is good for some things but has its limits and shows its ugly side ocassionally if you steer it in the wrong direction. The Rencomp rarely does that, I've found... but it all depends on context, etc etc.
