Yes, it comes in two versions... white noise or a blast of full level high-pitched squeal - it's beyond harsh. Hopefully your problem is the white noise... much safer for the ears.

Check the Answerbase. Search under "White Noise" or Bounce to disk". They believe it's a corrupt session. The workaround is to change the highlighted bounce selection a few ms or import the tracks into a new session.

Chances are your session buffer is set to 8. Try lowering it, it will probably do the trick.

thank you all for the replies but still no luck. i have tried the following.
1.imported files into new session
2. changed length of selection
3. change DAE buffer from 8 to 4
4. read prior posts

could this possibly be a memory allocation problem?

thanks again yall

Just curious. Have you added or reformatted/partioned a new drive just before this started happening?

What's the noise?

Try setting the DAE buffer to the norm of 2 also.

Is it a SCSi drive?? is it properly terminated?
Or maybe you have to many drives.

I had this issue and it turned out to be the CD writer SW. Does the bounced file show the click when you look at the waveform?

Also make sure that you do a fade out to digital zero. Set your bounce range to a few mS beyond this.

If the bounce stops in the middle of a waveform this can cause a loud pop.

i would first like to say thank you all for your help. the problem turned out to have a very simple fix. i did not do the most simple thing of all which was to RESTART PROTOOLS after i changed the buffer size from 8 to 4. i am sorry for causing such a fuss over such a simple fix. i would like to review and answer some of your questions though.
1.this was white noise
2.i did not repartition the drive before this happened and am still not sure why it started.
3.this is not a scsi drive.
4.the file DOES show the blast of noise when you look at its' bounced file.
5. i did fade out the end of the selection

i hope this helps anyone who might have the problem in the future
thanks again
joe
