You can of course remove the App Manager entirely, and just go to your Avid account and download from there. It won't affect how PT runs.

Do you know how to do that on a Mac?

In the Applications folder there is an Avid folder. Somewhere in there you'll find an Uninstall App Manager app.

More half-baked crap that causes way problems than it solves, and nobody likely wanted/needed in the first place. Spending that time and money fixing bugs would have been a much better investment. I'm guessing part of the illusion to non-techncial management may be "this can't be hard, can it?". And oh lets ship this off to developers in the Ukraine or God knows where...

Hold on tight, if Avid can't do something relatively simple like this I wonder how bad collaboration is going to be.

I noticed this issue with "Jetty" files in the my Temp directory on Win 7 Pro several weeks ago.

I hadn't cleaned that directory out since I rebuilt my machine...

I just picked up 15GB of disk space!

Thank you so much for posting about this issue.

I have Windows 8.1 and found that this problem gobbled about 200 GB of my hard drive in a few days. Like so many I earn my living via the computer and the stress and time that this cost me, before stumbling upon this thread were hugely significant.

Thanks again

Mike

Be aware that if (like myself) you want a lean install, simply uninstall "Application Manager" and "Cloud Services" if you don't need these features.

Seems to be related to third party software that Avid is using from ej-technologies.

I added it to our system policy as malware, and i block it on the network.

If it acts like Malware, it is Malware.

Keep in mind, you don't have to have the AAM start automatically when your PC starts. If you would like to avoid it starting automatically, but don't want to uninstall it because you would still like to be able to run it and check it from time to time, simply disable it from Start-up. Then you can still run it manually anytime you wish.
