Angry Communication with Eleven Rack Failure

Hi everybody!
I'm suffering because of permanent communication problems between PT10 and eleven rack. Sometimes reinstallation of the driver and restarting the computer and everything else helps, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm using windows7 64bit Intel i5 8GB RAM.
If anyone has an idea that might help...
Thanks and regards
Thomas

Default Communication with Eleven Rack Failure

Have you done all the standard Windows optimization for Pro Tools, including disabling USB power management, and disabling all sleep/suspend and you are careful not to sleep or suspend your computer. Tried the standard troubleshooting steps including testing with another USB cable and a different USB port?

What exact version of the driver are you running. Did you do a proper uninstall and reinstall following the standard instructions (with the Eleven Rack disconnected?).

Does the PC have a USB2 or USB3 port?

If you need more help folks here really need answers to the above and a full Sandra report, start at the "Help us help you--read this before posting" link in this web page.

Hi,

I have the same problems since nearly a half a year ...
I gave up ...
I noticed that ...
..... after starting opening a "new session" from default will work fine and connection will work ... at the most times .....
...... opening the last session or a session from harddisk will not connect the 11r and i have to reboot pt.
If everything failes I have to delete the DAE Prefs and it will work again.

I think that this is typical for pt on win ...

But I´m glad now ..... I´m not alone.

Did you do all the optimizations/things I mentioned. Power management will absolutely trip over this driver, known/expected behavior, and it may not always be obvious power management has kicked in.

Hi Darryl,
definately .... NO powermanagement active.
It always happens at the first start of PT ...
by opening a new session ... everything is fine
by opening an existing session it won´t ....

How can I disable USB power management ?
Will my USB Hubs work ?

PETER

Default Communication with Eleven Rack Failure

USB hub? You are using a USB hub? You are not supposed to use a USB hub with any interface. It can cause exactly problems like this. The Eleven Rack should be plugged directly into the host computer USB port, the only time to use a USB 2 hub is if a native USB3 port does not work.

USB power management is covered in one of the standard platform optimization steps. Which makes me think you have not covered those carefully. You need to make sure all of these are done (run as admin, anti-virus disabled, no bluetooth, etc. etc.). Start at the "Help us help you--Read this before posting" link on this page, optimization steps are under there.

When you open a session are you absolutely sure the playback engine is being set to the Eleven Rack, from your description that may be an issue. Hold down the 'N' key when Pro Tools is starting up and manually select the "Eleven Rack" as the playback engine.

Hi Darryl,

so far ...
I know that interfaces should be connected directly ... and they are ...
my playback engine is a motu firewire 828 and not the eleven rack.... and everything in setup should be ok and checked a thousand times

and ... I am admin ... no other user exists ... no anti virus ... no bluetooth ... no games !!

and ... I read ... "Help us help you - READ THIS before posting!"
but sometimes it won´t help ...

I´ll do it twice ...

thanks

So you are not even using the Eleven Rack as an interface, it is just the Eleven Rack control panel in Pro Tools that does not work? Wish you had said that at the start.

You also should provably not have a hub involved in this setup, first testing step should be to remove that. And as a test remove as many other USB devices as you can.

Not being a nag here, but 2 things pop up. #1...."I am admin" is NOT the same as using the right-click and Run as Admin command(I know it SHOULD be but I don't believe it IS) and #2...if you REALLY read the Help us Help You thread, then why have you not provided a Sandra report. The more info you offer, the more likely it is that somebody can help
