Pro Tools throwing cpu error messages
I am running the latest version of pro tools 9 on a 3.06 ghz core 2 dou Imac with 8 gigs of ram. Even in a session that has one midi track (going out to a yamaha motof), an aux in, and a master fader, I will get an error message saying I am out of cpu power.I have the buffer set to 512. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: Pro Tools throwing cpu error messages
There are probably more than a few tweaks you should do to get things hunky-dory.. however, go set your processors to one less than your maximum and at 99%. (SETUP/PLAYBACK ENGINE)

Re: Pro Tools throwing cpu error messages
Make sure you have your screens saver set to off and no hot corners enabled for any expose, spaces, etc. Shutdown then start up and launch pro tools without any other apps running like mail or safari etc. I found that any of these things which Avid says should be off can cause dae errors CPU etc. It helps to know exactly which errors you are getting -6085 etc. Also bluetooth and wifi should be off. Once it seems things are good then you can see if you can sneak some of these things on, but I found the screen saver was putting something in ram that really messed with Pro Tools and I would get a 6085 error and have to reboot. Pro tools 8 was not as touchy as Pro Tools 9 is for me as far as things like spaces and screensavers etc.

Re: Pro Tools throwing cpu error messages
What do you have setup as an audio drive?
What interface are you using?

Re: Pro Tools throwing cpu error messages
I am using a 7200 rpm usb drive for my external drive, and a saffire pro 40 for my interface.

Re: Pro Tools throwing cpu error messages
did you see if you get the same errors playing back a session with the built in mac soundcard, to rule out a problem with the saffire?
