If that doesn't work, I just use a second PC for connecting the the internet(where my PT machine seldom goes) and run a cable from the line out to my 003.

Are you on a mac? Use Safari as your browser?

easiest way is to use Safari to download the video from Youtube. (once the video is playing press command option A to get the activity window. Find the one entry that is in Megs not KB and double click it. the video will download. rename the file xxxx.flv and you have the vid.
Then you can use iextractmp3 to get the mp3 of the audio. then you can import that into pro tools.

You can google iextractmp3, its free. Hope this helped.

Very useful for recording any digital audio that is being passed throughout the system. I use it to record the audio from concert DVDs so I can take it with me.. (among other things)

Does anybody know if it's possible with Soundflower? I've been trying, but can't seem to figure it out.

I made an aggregate device consisting of my Mbox 2 Pro and Soundflower (2 ch), and chose the device in the Apple System Preferences (Input and Output), the Audio-MIDI Setup, and the Playback Engine in PT. The Soundflower inputs show up as available inputs in PT, but I don't know how to get the output of Youtube to register on an Audio Track in PT.

I also tried getting audio from Kontakt (in stand-alone) into Pro Tools, but didn't succeed.

Any information would be appreciated.

I figured it out. For anyone else interested, here's what to do:

1. Download and install Soundflower.
2. In Audio/MIDI Setup, make an Aggregate Device consisting of your audio interface (Mbox 2 Pro, for example) and Soundflower (2 ch).
3. In Mac > System Preferences > Sound, set "Output" to Soundflower (2 ch). This forces the System audio to Soundflower.
3. In PT, set the Playback Engine to the Aggregate Device you made.
4. In PT > Setup > I/O > Input, rename the inputs if necessary to make them easier to find when selecting inputs on an Audio or Aux Track. Clicking "Default" may help.
5. In PT, create an Audio or Aux Track, and select the Soundflower input.
6. Play the Youtube video, record-enable the track in PT, and you should hear the audio coming from Youtube.

Do something good.

and what could i use to do the same on a windows box? ive been looking for a way to record things off of websites AND to record audio being played in fl studio directly into PT and havent yet for a way to do that because the only "ins" that pt and my mbox let me record from are the suio ins...not from the software itself, which is what id like to do

would this work in pt le 8? ----> http://www.ntonyx.com/vac.htm

Interesting, for sure, but I will stick with my method as it only takes a cable
