Default Opinions on Mixes

http://www.myspace.com/retrospecs

Lookin for some GURU opinions...

From peoples who do REALLY good work, or do mixes for INDUSTRY

Finished this EP for a client a while back.

We did all 7 songs in my studio. RETROSPECS : Confident & Self-Aware EP

These guys are young, but an AWESOME group...

Track 1 has a 1:30 intro... super long... other than that, nothing out of the ordinary

Was a very different style for me to mix. Wasn't really sure where to go with it all.

Hendrix/Floyd meets Techno ???

Keep in mind it's supposed to be a little on the trashy side, but I kept it as clean as I could without them rolling their eyes :)

Any input would be appreciated. First time mixing anything this style, so opinions would be good.
Not looking for opinions on THEIR MUSIC, just the mixes and techniques used.
Obviously these are MP3's, but should give you an idea.

Thanx a ton.

I'm not a GURU per se, but I listen to a lot of well mixed music on my office iMac here during the day, a lot of it on players embedded in sites like MySpace, Bandcamp, web sites, etc...

I have to say that this sounds as good as anything else I've heard lately - Centipede is amazing, very balanced modern recording... really like the song too... the drums and guitars in the break are just perfect- made me wanna get down : )

Congratulations on a very successful recording !

Thanx, I really like Centipede too.

Glad to hear you think the mixes are good.

Was hard to keep a balance between a good clean transparent well defined mix, and the trashy feel they wanted on the project.

:)

I had to employ some techniques I havent had to use before (And I've done a TON of mixing, just not this style). Came up with some new tricks, which is why different is fun. I'm sure I did some things the hard way, but I'm always learning (Self taught)

No other opinions?

Really different style for me, so would appreciate opinions.

Had a lot of input on this project, like, let's do this, let's do that, so there is a lot of 'me' on this, even beyond basic mixing.

Thanx...

Maybe I came on too strong with the whole GURU request? :)
