I installed the Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Driver 7.4.2 so that i could use my old m-box with Peak and now i want to uninstall the whole thing completely. The uninstall directions on the site simply say to remove Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/DigidesignCoreAudio.plugin
But the installer installed much more than the DigidesignCoreAudio.plugin as i see all kinds of kext files in my log now as well. How do i do a complete and clean UNINSTALL of the whole driver. The installer doesn't seem to have an uninstall option and there doesn't seem to be a log or receipt. I want this off my system disk completely. cheers, kevin (10.5 mac intel) |

anyone? Surely someone must of installed these drivers for a gig and wanted to clear them out? Or installed the standalone drivers only to find they needed the regular drivers to use protools... no one?
Is there no uninstaller for these? |

I think i got it all. Any software devs who patch your kernel with .kext files and dump this much crap in your system should provide an uninstaller. You all are horrible. Wow.
I cleaned all digi diarrhea from Mac HD/Library/Application Support/ Digidesign folder Mac HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/ DigidesignFireWireMIDI.plugin DigidesignMbox2MIDI.plugin DigidesignMIDIIODriver.plugin DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin Mac HD/Library/Frameworks/ DAE.framework DHS.framework DigidesignFWDriver.framework DigidesignUSBDriver.framework DigiMachOServices.framework DigiPlatformSupport.framework DigiPlugInHelper.framework DigiStreamManager.framework DirectIO.framework DSI.framework DSPManager.framework DUI.framework and all that i found in: /Library/StartupItems then cleaned out: /Library/LaunchDaemons /Library/LaunchAgents ~/Library/LaunchAgents to cure the: com.digidesign.fwfamily.helper (10466) posix_spawnp/"/Library/Application Support/ Digidesign/fireWire/DigidesignFireWireHelper", ...): No such file or directory" (look in console if you don't get this one your system will just keep trying and trying and trying to load that sucka) all 4 or 5 kext files (evil evil evil) (click getinfo to be sure you are only deleting digicrap and not apple stuff) whew... I am not even sure I got it all. Holy cow. |

Hey, so just to be clear, do you still have PTLE stable and running? It seems like a lot of stuff for just the coreaudio drivers!
I stumbled upon this because of the digidiomididriver.plugin which craps up logic pro on SL. But it also seems like it might cure the kernel panic issue that has plagued us since 10.4.x(8 or 9 IIRC) which Digi acknowledge but don't fix. I can live with not using the mbox for other apps if it gives me a completely stable platform to use PT as well as Logic/Live! Who cares if I have to use my MBP headphone out for my HD650s? I don't use monitors outside of the studio HD system anyway! |
