Question about saving destinations
Not sure why I can't figure this out as I've been able to do this in the past.
How do I save a new session to a 2nd layer of folders on my PT Sessions drive? I'm only given the option of saving to the PT drive, not to any of the folders I have on it. Thanks

Re: Question about saving destinations
Not sure why, as I have never had an issue here. I will often create a folder for an artist and then create session within that folder(each session having its own folder, but all sitting in the main folder for the project). Could it be how you are creating in the first place? For instance, some folks that are new to this will build a custom template session and save it. Then, when they want to use the template, the open the template session and start recording(which will store the audio files in the template session folder, regardless of how/where you choose to save. The proper way to do that would be to create a blank session in the desired location, and then use the Import Session Data function to import all the tracks from the template session. Or, maybe its the order of how you are approaching it. Try creating your main project folder before you open Pro Tools. Then create and save the new sessions inside that folder.

Re: Question about saving destinations

I'm almost doing what you're saying. I open the template, and I'm prompted to name & save the new session. It's at that point that I only have access to my Session drive but not the folders I've used for years. But I don't record in the template. And my audio files are saved in the correct session folder. I tried closing the session & moving the session folder into the folder I want, but when open it & save, I get the prompt to save back to the 1st layer on the drive. I've always done it that way(open template & save new session), but I do remember having a similar issue way back and having to do something to remove the "restriction" of the name/save prompt. My Writing folder then became the default save location and I had the ability to save to any folder on the drive. Maybe I just need to do a Save As? I forget the same of it, but there's something in the drop down menu that allows you to select where to save audio for each track. Maybe I need to change locations there? I'll try your open blank session & import method until I remember what I did the last time I had this issue. Thanks!
