Default Resetting my PC - will I lose PT 2018?

I may need to re-set my C drive in my Win 10 Pro system. Has anyone done this and choose the Windows option: "Reset My PC"... and then "KEEP my files"? Did you lose all your stuff, like Pro tools, Plugins, etc... All PT projects are stored on other internal drives. Just trying to find out what I could lose before doing this. Thanks.

You have to read well what Windows says when you select the option. If you select refresh OS you won't loose your programs but you could loose some authorizations, iirc

If you want to feel more in control, you could open the computer case(with it off) and unplug the power to all hard drives except drive C: until after the reset. I also highly recommend saving downloaded programs and updates (which makes re-installing things easy at a later date). I keep a 500GB USB drive just for installers and updates. I also keep a 2TB USB drive that holds nothing but drive images of the C: drive in every computer I own(once a year for most and every few months for my PT system).

Starting from scratch is awful, which is why you should get on board with drive imaging. As soon as you get things working nice and smooth, save a drive image. In the future, if you decide to do some big update, save a fresh image BEFORE doing the update(so if it goes goes sour, restore from the image and be right back where you were before. Here are some popular PC software for this:
Acronis True Image(not free, but very good)
Macrium Reflect (free)
AOMEI Backupper (free) or Backupper Pro(paid but has more features that make it worthwhile).
Windows 10 can do it, but read up on the limitations
Drive cloning is another good option. I just had a major corruption from a power failure, but I had cloned my system drive to a spare drive about 6 weeks ago. Pulled the corrupt drive and stuck in the clone and went back to work (cloned over the corrupt drive a week later so I still have a fresh backup)

Yes Albee, I know. I used to do it with Norton Ghost... but when they stopped that software, and I went to Acronis, I could never get it to check out after doing a clone. I guess I'll have to figure out what I could have been doing wrong. Lesson learned here, I guess. Yes.... it does SUCK to start OVER.
Thanks.

I used Acronis for years, but moved on to Macrium Reflect. Far better, a lot easier to use and much more reliable. YMMV.

Same here. For PC macrium reflect has been solid. No issues.

I do use acronis on my Mac.
