Default File Corrupted on Import PT 2018-12

Strange occurrence. . . I was creating a test session on a new system I am working with. I imported a stereo audio file to a track from a Google File stream folder. When the file imported it had audio for the first 30 seconds, and the next 3 minutes were blank. It was a mastered audio file from a project and was fine in the past. I looked at the file in Finder and the file date had changed to current time and I played it with another tool and it was blank as displayed in Pro Tools. I grabbed a backup of the file and it was fine.

How does importing an audio file into Pro Tools mess up the source file?

This has me nervous. . . I have never experienced this before, and I am not exactly a newbie. . . what if something critical got corrupted and I didn't notice, etc. . .

Anyone else seen this behaviour, know the cause or remedy to prevent?

Thanks!

Since the Google File stream folder is the only thing I have never used, I would start by not using that. Then, what format is the audio that you are trying to import? Maybe it could be converted to a more PT-friendly format with another program? In any case, I have no issues importing mp3 or wave files here, regardless of sample rate.

Yea, I made a mental not to not do that again, except to test, and I could not replicate the result.

I thought it note worthy and puzzling.

It was WAV/16 to WAV/24, and same sample rate (44k1).
