how much difference will I really hear?
I'm working with a classical guitarist and I have some mid-rangy sort of mics...I'm going through the focusrite octopre preamps and into the 002s optical in....
I'm wondering if I were to use a pair of neuman TLM103s, and a pair of U87 omnis instead of a pair of AT3031s, and a pair of APEX460 omnis (tubes) on the guitarist, in a beautiful sounding church, would I really hear a lot of difference? I would like to hear people's opinions...like in what aspects I would hear it...where I wouldnt...what would change? Thanks for any info!! |

Re: how much difference will I really hear?
replace the guitar player and you will hear a lot bigger difference seriously, if you're happy with the sound you get, be happy with it. if it sounds right, it's right.

Re: how much difference will I really hear?
freak is dead on. If you like what you hear already things wont change much...in fact you'll probably tweak new mics to a similar sound you already have, it's relative to the individual. The biggest sound changes are in pre-gain sensitivity.
