MBPro, Catalina, iLok not activating

I was forced to upgrade my work computer to a 2019 Macbook Pro with Catalina 10.15.2. (The touchbar on the old comp stopped working)

PT worked well on the older MB Pro with Mojave, but Catalina has not played nicely. I researched and downloaded PT 2019.12, which I read is the one that does work with Catalina 10.15.2

It opens up, but it won't let me activate my ilok license. I've done all ILM updates, activating, synchronizing, deactivating, combinations. Here's the pic of what I get when opening PT.

My ilok is not damaged and it still opens up PT, Luna, and plugins on my iMac as well as the old MB Pro.

What do I do?

Hi, welcome to the community.

Your pics do not show the PT license on your license key, and also do not show the Release Limit date which determines which PT versions it is going to activate.

If you are on active support and updates plan, why not updating to 2020.5 that was just released?

JFreak, thank you for the reply. My PT update/support plan expired but I updated to 2019.6 last year before it expired. So, should I be one the same version of PT on each computer? Only one of the computers is on Catalina. Could that be the problem? Here's a pic of my license on the ilok.

Does the ilok only allow a certain version of PT? I don't see where that is located. Thank you for your patience as I am confused.

The version specific spec is called Release Limit and if you updated to 2019.6 just before your support plan expired, that may be your problem right there. The license will not authorize PT versions released after that date.

I think that is my problem. And the OS of my new computer has backed me into a corner unless I get the subscription upgrade. Thank you so much for your help!

If you want to keep your perpetual license and not want to go for subscription, you might get lucky calling your favourite dealer and ask for "reinstatement" (of support and update plan) which Avid discontinued last year but may still be available here and there. Do not buy "renewal" code because that will not work if your plan has already lapsed.
