Default Internal sounds

This might be a "stupid" question to ask, but i just recently switched from pc to a mac (G5 Dual 2.3) with the most recent OS X. Im running a 002r and i what i want to know is how to set it up where i can also here my internal sounds from the computer through my 002r, for example itunes or any other application so i can hear wav's, mp3's, etc...... thanks

don't know exactly where it is, but its under "system preferences" and sound.
BUT if you choose to use the digi as primary sound module, you'll have to switch
it back to "internal sound" when starting protools otherwise it will complain about
the coreaudio app is already running/taken.

best wishes

As long as PT is running, it's using the Core Audio driver exclusively so no other application can use the 002R as sound device. But there are workarounds for such cases, i.e. connecting the internal soundcard output to the 002's alt src inputs, or using the "preview" features in the import audio dialog (without actually importing the file).

If PT is not running, then it will basically work like already replied above.
Ok, maybe excepted that closing all applications which were previously using the Core Audio driver (so the CAD icon disappears from the Dock) before launching ProTools might be the more elegant way than switching the System Preferences back.

Actually ProTools uses the DAE drivers when running, and DAE and CoreAudio can't both access the hardware at the same time, which is why you can't use CoreAudio for Digi hardware when PT is running. CoreAudio is what allows you to use Digi hardware with other apps, but ProTools (the software) does not use any kind of CoreAudio driver implementation.
