What's the problem- are you getting audio into the minidisk but can't hear it during the transfer, or what?

Please note that S/PDIF optical will reset to ADAT every time you reboot the machine.

Ok, all I’m trying to do is export from the optical out on the sound card of the 001 to my mini disk player. I’m a newbie so I hope that I forgot a step and it’s not broke. Anyway here is the procedure I took.

1.Hooked optical cable up to sound card and mini disk player.

2.Change to optical setting in hardware tab.

3.Changed my outs on the channels in the mixer to one of the channels that accommodate an optical connection.

Where did I go wrong?

Thanks for the reply Darren! but still no luck.

In the "hardware setup" I changed the sync mode to optical but If i go into the "other options" at the bottom of the page I notice that the "optical format" box is totally greyed out. This is where I would have turned off s/pidf mirroring but it's greyed out (meaning I don't have the choice to turn it on or off) but, the s/pidf mirroring looks like it is turned off.

MR.Stone Knife... Remember that i'm a newbie..... Dual boot? heck i'm proud of myself for even building a computer that's compatible and works with protools [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img] honestly I'm a little intimidated to modify the system after taking 2 months to work out all the bugs! But if you step me through the process I might be bold enough to attempt it [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Does any one else have any suggestions?

You get to the ADAT and S/PDIF menu through the
Setups> Playback Engine> Other Options.

You can see the menu box in the
Setups> Hardware> Other Options but must go through Playback Engine to actually change anything.

I still don't know what your actual problem is but now I'm guessing you're getting no S/PDIF optical output. That'll probably solve it.
