Default royalty free production music--suggestions?

I'm running a small home studio and am looking for production music/sound effects suitable for voiceover. Good quality and reasonably priced. What's available?

You're not being very clear. Voicover for what? A TV production i guess, with library music underneath?

There is a lot of production music about. Contact the suppliers and - like me - you get an endless supply in the post. Most is difficult to digest, but some is fantastic. As it happens I have one on the CD player right now "blues 1900 - 59". Not the genuine article, but still an incredibly good album! Label: Boosey & Hawkes www.booseymedia.com

All these people have websites now where you register, can preview then download a track, then pay MCPS or whoever if you use it.

KPM music - fantastic library. I've used several of their tracks.

DeWolfe music - huge library

Atmosphere Music Ltd - real quality stuff

www.WestOneMusic.com - good for music 'styles' of all kinds

Good luck

Oh wait a minute. You say 'royalty free'? Like you buy a disk and can do what you like with the music? I've heard some of those, and I've not heard one that's good...

On the cheap you might be able to use classical music recorded by Communist era Russian orchestras (seriously) - some of this stuff was going really cheap a few years ago. On the other hand, a lot of old recordings (pre '30s) have now gone out of copyright, if that's at all suitable, but watch out for any persisting composers and publishers rights.

Then again, there's a few composers right here in DUC, but most are pros who wouldn't do it for just a few pennies.
