Default Network question

Howdy,

I have a Pro Tools 8 system running Snow Leopard.

The broadband network here in Australia is not compatible with Snow Leopard, thus when the computer starts and automatically joins the network, it freezes.

When taking the computer off the network it is fine.

I would still however like to connect to the network so I can file share etc with other computer on the network... I don't need internet access on this machine.

Is there a way, a setting that I can still be part of the network but not access the internet via that network?

Many thanks,
Stefan.
