Default MBox 2 Pro Footswitch no longer starts/stops playbac

I love the footswitch Playback Start/Stop function, and it worked flawlessly in all versions of PT8LE, DVTK, DVTK2

Since upgrading to PT9, CPTK2, the footswitch only punches in/out of record, regardless of the radio button selection in the "Setup/Hardware..." window.

I have checked several other threads relating to the footswitch on various interfaces, but saw nothing that addresses this behavior. I was hoping the 9.0.1 update might poke it... no luck.

My system: (the only thing new in my setup since the footswitch worked last is PT v9 w/CPTK2... clean install and Mac OSX 10.5, now 10.6)

PT 9.0.1
MBox 2 Pro latest driver per 9.0.1 instructions
MBox 2 Pro firmware version 2007-10-31 03:44:02 -0700
Mac OSX 10.6.6
Mac Pro quad core xeon 2.8
10GB RAM
Digi CoreAudio Manager 9.0.1

I'm going to boot into my partition with OSX10.5.8/PT 8LE and see if the footswitch works there like it did when I used that partition before moving over to 10.6/PT 9. I'll reply with my results.

UPDATE: The footswitch works correctly in my OSX 10.5.8/PT8LE partition. Playback start/stop is good. Coming back to 10.6.6/PT9.0.1 = no dice.

Is it unusual that I use the footswitch for Start/Stop playback?

It was great for auditioning sound effects in Soundminer running along with ProTools. The footswitch allowed PT to start/stop regardless of what program had the keyboard/mouse focus on the computer.

It would be nice to have that functionality back in PT9. Any suggestions?

So to summarize... PT9 on 10.6 = footswitch no worky. Boot to another partition with PT8 on 10.5 = footswitch worky.

It's my understanding that this issue will be fixed in an upcoming update...

Excellent!

I'm sure there are so many matters more pressing than this one, with many more users per item. I'm glad it got addressed.

This issue is fixed in the latest 9.0.2 update, available here:

Pro Tools 9.0.2 update

Updaters for Pro Tools 8.0.5 and 8.1.1 are also available.

Excellent... the 9.0.2 updated fixed it! Footswitch playback start/stop is now back in business!

Is it possible that 9.0.3 broke the footswitch dealio again? Seems like it for me. It's back to the same behavior again of trying to record regardless of the selection.

Thanks!
