I don't think it's in the manual. I had noticed the same thing around ten years ago and somebody from waves explained it to me.

I use a hardware bitscope on everything. Plenty of software fails.

It would be nice if Waves chimed in on this, but they probably won't.

You would think in ten years they could update the manual to mention that Type 2 features auto-blacking. Corporate inertia is near impossible to overcome.

Maybe Waves should adopt their tech guy's assertion as their new slogan:
"Defiantly up to date!"

I too noticed that the IDR dither non-plug-in came with Audio Track, but have no interest in it. I had tried it years ago, and on first try I liked it a lot. But after that, I couldn't get it to consistently make me happy. Maybe this is why? It wasn't consistently working right?

Love Audio Track, though. If anybody doesn't have it yet, I think it's still $15 from audiomidi.com.

My brain auto-corrected that and I never thought twice about it.

Yes, most apropos I think.

Avid's new "Ignorance is Bliss" stance is also frustrating. Without coughing up $$$, there's no longer any official way to submit un-ignored bug reports. Us gamma testers must content ourselves with the notion that we have been blessed with "Perfect Software Forever".

My money stays in my pocket and Avid enters a new phase of ignoring the customer.

"But we have Ideascale!?!"

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I think I found a use for IDR. It shows up in the Audio Suite menu. The only dither-only plug-in that can be applied in non-real time, that I know of. The only one I have, anyway. As long as the bug doesn't affect the non-real time version of the algorithm, that could save some time here and there.

Installed V8r5 today and this IDR issue is still there.

See the video if you aren't yet aware of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lj2GzGTXzKg

Just turn Waves dither off and use POWr dither. It works fine.
