Really really sad AVID.

And you know what? I can see the joke:

PTHD= DEMO ONLY FOR HD USERS WITH ACCOUNT=NO DEMO FOR NATIVE USERS (or future customers)...

Ya gotta laugh at these monkeys. Practically any piece of software these days comes with a trial version. They may very well be 'working on it' to get a trial version out but one would think common sense would have told them to have it ready on PT10's release.

There's clearly a lack of CS at Avid HQ!

No need for name calling, mate. I've been plenty pissed about this, and that, but these folks have been as courteous as possible in their correspondence, and we should endeavor to do the same.

Maybe if they didn't have to fire all those employees they could have got it done by now.

Fair enough, I offer my sincere apologies. However, it still doesn't change my point.

The best way to understand the value of Pro Tools HD 10 is to use it. Currently, that’s hard to do, unless you buy it, so we’re introducing a 14-day trial for Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD 10 starting next week on the Avid website. With the 14-day trial everyone will be able to experience the speed, power and capability of Pro Tools 10 first hand, and with no risk.
So they may be being courteous, but comments like the one above only serve to compound frustration when they're so inaccurate.

I hear you, mon. I'm sure Max had the best intentions tho, right? He certainly didn't say that just to piss us off. lol

It just seems like this whole rollout was rushed a bit for AES... don't you think? And/or, there is more to the process then Max, or we knew/know.

Thinking that, I just can't get odd about issues like this one. Did you notice DigiCS are busting their asses to get people demos to tie them over until their full versions are deliverable, in the "Support Plan but no sign of PT10HD License" thread?

I think that says it all really, they're doing the best they can with the situation. Although it would make more sense to me, to simply pin a thread concerning the trial, and Support Plan delivery process, and be forthcoming about the delays they're experiencing—thus eliminating 90% of any ill will created by leaving people in the dark.

Communication is key.

I agree. I'm certain that the delays here are even more stressful for Avid people, dealing with the complaints as well as the actual issues here. If there were an easy way around the bureaucracy, I'm sure this would already be behind us.

Hi,

The demo should work for everyone as the installer is the same for all versions and the HD license will also work for all versions.

Maybe they will give a link and pass only for the HD users...
We will see, one day maybe...

Yeah I agree with what you're both saying since they have found themselves in this predicament, but my point is, with just a little foresight they should have had the demo ready to go right from the beginning as is custom practice with most software dealers.

The fact that this was overlooked is quite astounding especially for a company of Avid's size and length of time in business IMHO. Trial versions have been a well known marketing tool ever since software was invented.
