Default Pro tools and roland mc 707 midi sync, please help

Im trying to figure out how to sync my midi clock with the 707 so I can get it synced to the grid but cant figure it out. I have the 707 selected in the playback engine. and am able to record the tracks into my session but cant sync them to my Pro Tools. Can someone assist? I feel like Im 2 or 3 clicks away

It's a long time ago that I did this, therefore no details, but basically you find the beat clock settings on the Roland, set it to external, and it will run and follow the PT tempo when you hit play in PT.

OOps, sorry. I thought we were talking about an old roland drum machine here. If you have it selected as audio interface, it's another ball game. Please ignore.

Well, if you're new to PT, using a device which is a interface/controller/midi-device combo, and doing it on PT First, a limited, not well trusted version of PT, then you're in such deep water that I can't do anything but wish you good luck. Maybe somone else can help.

You'll have to be more specific; what are you doing, using it as a interface, selected in playback settings? Is that how you get audio from the Balance into tracks? Or is it connected via audio cables to a different interface? Is it showing up as a controller? or a midi device? Is it connected via usb or midi cables?

After 20 years of using PT, now you resorted to PT First...?

Do you have MIDI connected via the DIN connections or are you using MIDI over USB?

If the device is receiving MIDI, then typically you would enable the device to follow the master, in this case PT. This would be done within the 707 not PT.

Again though, you haven’t really been clear with how you’ve got it all setup. As Ben mentioned, are you connecting audio from the outputs of the 707 to an interface or are you trying to pass audio from the unit over USB?

Without being in the same room as you, we’re guessing at this point.

I am connected using USB, In the 707 I have the vendor selected which is PT, all I am trying to do is get my audio tracks from my 707 into my session, I have went thru many Roland and Gearslutz forums, I cant simply export audio tracks like on my MPC X , I have to connect it this way I am told. when the 707 is set to AUTO or INT I can record into PT but when it is set to USB as I was told to set it to to be able to
I was sent this video to use as a reference and it actually halped up until the midi part, I cant find where to set the midi in PT to the 707
