Default why did they decide to make the carbon not compatible with the mtrx stuff?

Seems like it would make more sense to keep everything in the same ecosystem so people could buy carbon and mtrx studio for instance? What was the logic to doing it this way? (honest question)

I suspect it's just two different products, from two different teams/companies, not a good look that they could not integrate things better. Maybe they really really believed that the project studio market is separate than others, who knows. I can only guess that Carbon's restrictive choice to use AVB was some decision from folks with the live audio console side of Avid.

As Darryl mentioned,
MTRX (all of them) come from Digital Audio Denmark. It's their product and their ecosystem (including DADman)

Carbon (all of them) come from Avid. The pres and AVB (though not interoperable AFAIK) are what are used from Avid's Live audio division.

The MTRX line is the higher end line (and higher cost.) I see zero people interested in mixing these two lines in the first place. The point of the Carbon line is a little bit of DSP for live tracking without needing an HDX system. Just above bedroom studio level. If you are on the MTRX line, you've already got better converters and better pres. Most likely, if you want more pres, you are going to use the analogue ins with external (better!) pres. And it is digilink connected.
