I want to trade systems with another studio...how?
I have a a single core Allenstein and my best bud has a dual core Allenstein. I have tons of licensed software on my system running a 002R/7.1. My buddy has the basic Mbox2 and ignition pack PT 6.8.
Graciously he is trading systems with me as he uses his system very little and tends to do his main work in my studio. Do I need to strip both systems down, deleting all software and then start all over...or can I just load up my PT7 upgrade on top of his 6.8 and then load 6.8 back on my old system? Everything is on the up and up and all software is licensed. We truly just want to swap systems but keep the same software configs we currently have. Am I making any sense here? We have no problem buying another PT7 upgrade if that would make it more "authentic". I guess I would need another Ilok too huh? Ross |

Re: I want to trade systems with another studio...
I would say just uninstall ProTools and both or you plugins from each computer, then reinstal your copy of pro tools and your plugins on the computer your getting and install PT 6.8 and his plugs on the comp he will have

Re: I want to trade systems with another studio...
Honestly, if he has 6.8, he should be eligible for the free update to 7.x. He should have gotten an email after he registered with a link for his upgrade download.
And I think to be completely legal, you would need to uninstall the software, reload it, and enter your authorization codes.

Re: I want to trade systems with another studio...how?
If both systems have the same hard drive connectors, you might want to try swapping just the root drives (and iloks). It's never that easy, but it might work. I'd ghost the drives first though.

Re: I want to trade systems with another studio...
That won't work Ter.
XP installations are based around the specific hardware of the computer it resides on. |
