Default How did I get two pan knobs for mono track?

I'm back to recording after a two-year hiatus (in which I moved my setup twice but didn't change any components).

The following is driving me nuts: when I open a 2016 song file, the vocal mono tracks have two pan knobs each. Any mono track I create now appears with only one pan knob. How does this happen? Does it matter?

More details:

The mono tracks are vocal tracks recorded with a condenser mic connected to a Focusrite via XLR cable.

The Setup>I/O looks the same as the 2016 one.

If anyone could shed any light on this, I would be very grateful

It sounds like you have a mono/stereo plugin on the track.

Thank you, that was exactly right. The two knobs appeared because I had a Reverb (mono/stereo) plug-in on the track, and when I select the plug-in on my new tracks, the two knobs appear again. Thank you!!!
