Default Running Soft Synths Through Outboard Gear...

I believe I've asked a similar question here before, but I can't remember the response I got, anyhow, I'm going to buy the great river mp-1nv pre on mon. I was wondering if I would be able to run reason and Kontakt stuff through the amp then back into pro tools, is this a possibility? OR would I need something like an AKAI sampler or drum module?
