Will my Digi 002 rack work with any recent OS and software?

Hi,

I was about to upgrade my Macbook Pro 2.3G i5 with 16GB of RAM (from 4) and put in a 500GB SSD then upgrade my PT from 9 to 12, but I was just told that my 002 Rack won't work with that set up. Is anyone out there using PT12 with a Digi 002 rack?

Will I have to get a new interface? Anybody know if Logic or others would still work with an upgraded computer and 002 (I realize Logic might be a bad word, here, but thought I'd ask).

Odds are very good that the old beast will work. Having said that, most of the new options will sound better

It will work. It uses the same drivers as the 003 which runs PT12.

Wait really? Does this mean an 003 (console, not rack) would work with PT12? Including the control surface? because if so, it'd be the perfect demo-recording desk for my practice studio...

Anyone have experience with the 003 control surface on PT12?

EDIT: just found Avid's site "Approved Audio Interfaces & Peripherals" (http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nd-Peripherals) that the 003 (all versions) are supported up to 12.7.1, and the 002 (all versions) are not supported/tested. But the 002 are not in the "Do not work" list, so you should be ok... And i'll be looking for an 003!

Yep, using a 002 rack with my MacBook pro.
You can upgrade that 002 to better specs too if you want to spend the money.https://www.blacklionaudio.com/store...ign-002r-mods/
They have sales a couple of time a year..I got the tweak head then went for the signature..

better than it runs PT9, i'd guess. PT12 is more CPU efficient than PT9, due to 1) the new (PT11) audio engine, 2) and Track Freeze & Commit.

My MacBook Air (2gHz dual-core i7) fares much better on 12 than it did on 10. (Didn't have this machine before 10)

I don't know how anyone used PT Native before track freeze, unless you were either using a beast of a computer or doing projects with little or no plugins.

Ben is asking about an i5 and you have an i7 - big difference between the two.
