Default mastering for web or computer speakers

I am looking for tip on how to get a good range when mastering for crappy computer speakers or for projects that will end up on CD ROMs or the web etc. In the studio the mix sounds great I hear great lows clear crisp high end but when I bounce to .aiff or convert to MP3 it is really flat when played back anywhere else. I am using a L1 on the master and have very little EQ on individual tracks. Anyone have a sure fire method to make it sound even half as good as it does in the studio on a one inch computer speaker? I am monitoring with a pair of event 20's. I know this can be done because I have heard some MP3's that I think sound great on my laptop. PLEASE HELP...

My suggestion is to get a set of computer speakers like the Apple Design Power Speakers off Ebay, and mix/master through them.
