Default Delay Compensation issue... Is it Waves?

Any one else who update to Waves 7.0.2 (with the new CLA stuff) having delay compensation issues? I've got a clone that doesn't have the update to jump back on but I'm wondering if I'm special or if there's really an issue. Please be kind about the special thought :) Thanks

Hi,

What delay comp issues are you having?

I did insert x-noise today and the delay reading was about 2.000.00 but i think i just deactivated and reactivated and it was fine!!

Hey Chris,

Aux channels with outboard efx are randomly requiring too much compensation knocking everything out of wack, flaming my drums... Even tracks without anything inserted are in red. Position doesn't matter and track counts can be low... I don't have time to trouble shoot it more so I'm going back to my clone.

Okay so what don't I understand. I went to my clone and still had the issue. So I thing that rules out the wave update unless I'm just now noticing something from the previous update I made a week ago. I'm bussing my multi tracks to a stereo aux (master w/ inserts) and then out of that into a stereo audio for internal printing (no bounce to disc). After "updating waves" I've noticed that I can no longer run dorrough meters on the print channel (last audio channel in my work flow. Also in auto input) without delay comp issues. If I take that track out of auto input (so I can no longer hear my mix) the delay compensation status leaves the red and goes back to green. When I went to Setup > I/O to review my I/O (see if there were any delay compensations set up for inserts) and then return to the mix the delay compensation issue went away. but 15 minutes later with out making any insert changes... I had issues again. Thoughts? I've trashed prefs...

Anyone?

I sent Waves TS an email. It seems my DC issues go away if I stop using Waves Dorrough meter on my mix print track.

Hi,

If you are bussing everything to one track to print the mix, then disable the delay compensation on that track!! its not needed. same applies for mixbus/master channel.

what you are probably seeing is the delay readings summing up from track to aux to mixbus/print track.
the delay from tracks feeding an aux are adding to the delay caused by the aux which is all added to the delay caused by any plugins on your mixbus/master etc.

any tracks feeding effects channels/aux's from sends will have the same problem! tracks delay multiplied by the aux delay = the total delay.

Thanks Chris. I appreciate your insight. I've never had mix issues with DC left on my aux until now. I'll go ahead and start freeing up that total delay time... It'll be interesting to see what Waves says. The random behavior that seemed to surround the Dorrough was really frustrating. Simply opening PT pref and I/O under setup was causing the delay comp values to change. Thanks again for chiming in!

Default Re: Delay Compensation issue... Is it Waves?

I just recently started 'noticing' 'delay/latency' on some Waves plugs since upgrading to 7.... went to PT8 a few months ago....

With 5.9.7 I had a couple small quircky graphical issues with things like Tune and whatnot, but everything was pretty cool.

Went to Waves7, and now in 8 I am noticing delays.

I know there are buffers in many of their plugs, and now I am having to pay close attention to that and use the chart provided by Waves to correct, and until I learn it by heart, I'm checking the chart periodically against what I have, or am hearing in the session.

Really blows to have to be screwing with all this when I'm really just supposed to be working for the client... and it slows workflow a bit....

but oh well... I'm pretty happy overall

Now, why I never 'noticed' this before PT8 and W7.... I don't know...
I mean, I noticed it on SOME plugs, like Tune, etc, but now it's all over....
Maybe I'm just on crack

This is all in LE... I realize you're in HD, but just another thought.
Not sure how ADC handles intentional plug buffering
