I keep getting this error message:

The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel. (-6086)

I've tried increasing my H/W Buffer Size from 512 to 1024 to 2048 and nothing seems to stop this error from coming up.

Any ideas? I'm running PT 8.0.5 M-Powered on Windows 7 with a Fast Track Pro M-Audio device and a Glyph eSATA storage device. Running updated WAVES plugins mostly.

I just deleted prefs and databases, and that didn't help any.

Why can't anybody respond to this question? Is it a chipset problem? Any help is appreciated.

I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and nothing wrong was detected. Anybody home?

It seems to be happening only when the recording is not in 44.1kHz.

The 6086 is a buffer error (as you've found out). Here are some KB articles on it, with some suggestions:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ssage/en210135
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ssage/en363971

You have gone through the Optimization Guide right?

The CPU is running at about 35%, so that part is ok with the RTAS. All plugins are up to date. I've optimized the system. There aren't any communication problems with the interface. I must have incompatible hardware, either the Motherboard chipset or the Integrated Graphics.

Or the fact you inly have 3GB RAM.

The windows OS uses atleast 1GB or more so that leaves little to no RAM for PT and VI and plugins that might run up a bit of RAM.

And having 3 GB is a weird number. Either pull out one stick and use only 2GB or get new RAM sticks matching number like 2 X 4 or 2 X 8 GB

With PT there are no shortcuts in system configurations.

Good point, you'd get better performance if you're running in Dual Channel mode - matched pairs of ram.

Thanks so much guys. I'll do the 2GB x 4 approach I think. I found where I can order the modules.
