Default Protoold HD ACCEL and HD CORE PCI with INTEL

Hello, im new in this forum, i'm currently working at a studio in Buenos Aires, we are running with Protools HD 7.4 on a PPC G5, with the HD ACCEL, HD CORE and a UAD-1, we have the intention to move from this system to an intel based platform, without using the Magma chassis, we are building a hackintosh with this configuration :

Intel Core i7 2600 Socket 1555
MOBO GIGABYTE GA-H67A-UD3H-B3
8 GB DDR3 1333 Kingston

Does anyone know if this set up will would work with a OSX Snow Leopard ? More specifically if the pci interfaces will be recognized by the os, or if i would have some sort of DAE error with protools, im going kinda crazy here!

Up an running successfully for about 6 months!

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 3.67 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 8 MB
Memory: 16 GB
Processor Interconnect Speed: 6.6 GT/s
Boot ROM Version: ##############
SMC Version (system): 1.30f3
Serial Number (system): G89266254PC
Hardware UUID: 6C625934-88B2-5C6C-A976-C415E2E334A4

Loaded with HD3 PCI.
Previously running HD3 on a PPC G5 for about 4 years.
Did detail analysis using the pci bus on the intel architecture. No errors! No bugs! on the built. Running like a charm.

My built

ASUS P7 MB
Intel Core i7

All you need is the room for the HD cards, expert cooling solutions, good room for the coolers to circulate the air inside the computer. That's it you are done!

All the best for building your own HD rig @ $700 !!!!!!!

I am also running PTHD2 with PCI cards on the ASUS P7P55D MB. Not a single problem. Those boards are no longer made though and getting tough to find. I won it on ebay for $37! There are other versions currently made, such as the "Deluxe" and "Premium" but none have 3 PCI slots next to each other with 2 PCIe x16 slots which I needed for dual GFX cards.

It's not that easy for 1155-socket processors.

The H67 chipset does not support PCI Legacy, chances are the PC will not even boot with the cards installed.

However, with the chassis it may be different.

Only the C202/204/206 or the Q67 chipsets support the latest Sandy Bridge processors.

But the C20x series doesn't support the I7, you'll have to use a Xeon, and chances are you'll also need ECC memory (it's mandatory for some motherboards)

I'm quite interested in this topic myself as I have ordered:

a C206 motherboard (ASUS P8B WS) with 1 PCI slot,
one Core and one Accel PCI-X cards
and a Magma chassis off Ebay.

So in about two week's time I'll set it up, pray, and see what happens.

Please keep us posted if you manage to get it working, meanwhile, there is a whole thread dedicated to a proposed sandy bridge hackintosh over at tonymacx86's forum, but they're only dealing with the cards straight on the motherboard, not in a magma chassis...
