What should i be aware of in terms of not deleting any important files from the yellow project folder? |

Re: save another mix version
As far as I know it does not delete any files even if you clean the other sessions but to be sure I always use Save Copy In... It creates a completely new and independent session folder.

Re: save another mix version
IIRC, Save As does not copy the audio files, you are always dealing with the same audio files and you remain in the same session folder. Save Copy in does save the audio files to a new folder in a new session folder, but ONLY if you check the Copy Audio checkbox. If you don't check Copy Audio, you'll be dealing with the audio in the old session, but be in a new session.
Also, remember that, unlike say in Word or Excel and you Save As it opens the new file, when you Save Copy In, you're still in the OLD session. To work on the new session, you have to open it up manually. Otherwise you'll be working on and in the old session when you think you're working on and in the new session. Been caught by that a few times.

Re: save another mix version
The Weed is right. For Save Copy In to be completely independent it has to copy the files. Save As only saves the PTX and shares the Audio files with the new version but after working on a new Save As version (and cleaning the unused files) I've been able to go back to the old version without missing any files which makes me think that Pro Tools doesn't clean files that are linked to old versions present in the folder.

Quote:
Yes (but please follow Weed and amagras’ advice carefully). The Pro Tools session file “points“ to the audio files in its tracks, and are usually stored in the session’s Audio files folder. So if the audio in your project no. 1 remains in its original location, it will be available when you open that project. An alternative to deleting tracks is to use Hide and Make Inactive. This gets the track out of your way in the Mix and Edit windows, and frees up CPU. Then, if you want to revisit the track, you simply make it active and unhidden. This way you can have only one session. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Re: save another mix version
Considering how cheap drive space is, I would not delete any audio files(at least until the project is absolutely done and ready to archive)
