Default Mini Channel Fader

While watching a pro tools video for automation on youtube, the person in the video had a mini fader on the edit window. I am trying to try the different types of automation (EX: write, touch, off) and want to see how they are drawn in to visualize the automation. But I can't see it because i have to be in the mix window controlling the fader. How can i get a fader to appear in the edit window without using the one for the I/0? Please Help!

You can create "floating faders".
Each track in mixer window has a tiny little fader symbol not far from the fader itself. If you click it, a floating fader will pop up, or, if there already is one, it will change to the track who's tiny fader symbol you just clicked. That is, if its big red "target focus" (or something to that effect) button is engaged. If you disengage that red button, the next time you click a tiny fader symbol another floating fader will pop up. This way you can have as many floting faders as you want.

Plugin windows has the same red button and works the same way.

Tip: If you have the edit window filling your screen, you know you can set it to show inserts, sends, and everything. If you set it to show I/O also, it wil show a small number telling the fader setting value. You can click-and-hold on that number and a micro-fader pops up and lets you change the level.

You need to do two things:

In the View menu check Expanded sends for the send you want to see. Then select to see those sends under the Edit windows view.

Ben, I believe the "floating faders" are what I am looking for. However, I can not find the tiny little fader symbol or the big red "target focus" on my tracks in the mix window that you speak of. Can I have an image to reference or more detail to where it can be found on the tracks on the mix window?

Ben, I actually found the floating fader! It was located right next to the tracks output. Thank you so much!

Good.
Now if you deselect the little red square in the top right of the fader window, it will let you create another, and another.
(I know I said it was big and round, I think that was in an earlier version, now it's little and square. But it IS red. And it's called "The target Button". It's found in many types of windows in PT, and it's covered in the reference guide.)

Or just Shift+Click to open multiple faders. Same for plug-ins.

Cheers,
