Default Re: Track Freeze vs Track Commit

Track freeze (on any DAW) has always been about simply freeing up resources while tracking with low enough latency to not impact performance.

Not sure what the confusion is between Freeze and Commit.

So that means you want to commit to move a session.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see a way of future proofing a session with Aux tracks used as group masters. For example if I send drums to 2 Aux buses, 1 with parallel compression and the other with compression and EQ. The commited individual tracks won't sound the same without the Aux masters and the committed Aux masters can't be used because they're a full mix of the individual tracks.
The only way I see of future proofing this example is by committing the individual tracks and taking screenshots of the plug-ins on the Aux masters, to try to approximate their contribution to the mix.

Commit (or re-record) the 2 Auxes as Stereo Stems.

This is your true safety if you need to recall exactly as it was. Especially some time in the future...

Btw, this is the same thing as re-recording your mix food groups while doing a post mix.

Sure. Not everything can be perfect.

But we do the best we can. It's all a huge step up from 2" tape, an SSL, and recall sheets.

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something obvious.
