Req: Improvement of preview mode

Hi,

I just posted some suggestions to improve preview mode and make it less prone to human error and laziness and also speed up the process (some would call it ergonomic ). I think this could improve this mode a lot.

Would really make sense to me if additionally touch would not revert to latch after a preview pass with manual write/write automation to selection.

Ugggh, can't tell you how many times a day I try to write a fader move without realizing I'm in preview. This is an awesome idea, I hope it can be implemented.

Not that I'm aware of. Is it dead? Plenty of new bug-reports and requests up there every week.
Could be AVID's 'digital cemetery' for user feedback but they say it isn't. I don't know.

Frank, very good idea...
I've implemented it in my personal "Automation Protector Patch" that is written in Max/Msp. It uses Rewire to check if a selection is made before playback starts or not. If there is no selection it blocks the script that is executing a mouse click on the "Write to selection" button.
Your request is working like that: If a selection is made a script will click the preview button once you start playback.

I can share it, if you or someone else is interested... needs a midi controller (with buttons) and the Automation window needs to be at a certain position.

maybe someone with more programming experience can write a nice little standalone...

Personally, I would love to see a major overhaul of automation functionality in PT, specially an updated Automation window with keyboard shortcuts for all of the Automation buttons.

I don't see that happening. This functionality is provided by their controllers and
Avid wants you to buy them.
