Default Low Latency w/ADAT out?

A while back I switched to using my RME ADI8-Pro's Channel 7-8 for monitoring 'cause the conversion and therefore the sound was much more accurate than with my then 001 and even the 002r that I currently use.

At the time I was not aware of the Low Latency only going to Main out's 1-2 on the 001 so I just assumed that I'd had this problem all along and that the answer was to lower the Buffer setting to 128. At this setting nobody ever complained so I figured all was working as it should. However recently I've been testing some things with my new G5 Quad and 002r and have found that ever since I switched my monitoring out I've had NO low latency mode at all. This is due to the fact that (I presume) Low latency monitoring only goes to Analog outs 1-2.

Am I correct in assuming this?

If so....why? There seems no logical reason why Protools would only let Analog out 1-2 benefit from LLM. I don't want to switch everything back to the way it was originally and compromise my improved sound using the better conversion. This is the way I like to monitor because I don't have to guess what I'm getting.

Question: Does S/PDIF mirroring follow analog out's 1-2 and would it benefit from LLM?

If so, does the buffer setting affect LLM or not? In other words could I increase the buffer to 512 or 1024 and still have LLM work while tracking?

The reason I ask ('cause I could just try it) is because I'd have to re-route a bunch of stuff in the studio and reset my whole setup if I was to take advantage of this. Not that I'm lazy, I'm just in the middle of sessions and don't want to mess with anything right now.

Any experience with good workarounds would be helpful. Thanks.
