Default Bouncing sample rate question

I bounce my final mix to a 16bit stereo format for CD burning, but have always used the 44100 Sample rate. When just checking out the PT Quicktime tour, I realized I can set it higher, say to 48000. Should I be doing this for best resolution and does it really make an audio difference if all still in 16 bit? By the way, for those who don't know it, check out: http://www.digidesign.com/products/h...our_index.html

If the final destination of your projects is a CD, stick with 44.1 for your sampling rate. There are tons of posts regarding this topic, use the DUC search feature and you will provided with a wealth of information.

CD = 44.1KHz.
Only DAT = 48 KHz.
No way, you will avoid these rules...
Anyway, 44,1 or 48, if you can tell the difference, you're not human !!
It is commonly said that human can hear frequences up to 20KHz . CD goes up to 22KHz. Faaaar enough !....

44.1 doesn't divide into 48 cleanly, making that particular conversion very math-intensive and prone to mucho rounding errors, which means an unavoidable loss of quality. Try to never get painted into a corner where you must convert, and by all means don't do it because the quality might be better...the opposite will likely be the result.
