Default Power Consumption

Anyone know how much power an HD2 Accel system needs?

Here's my problem:

I have a Tyan Tempest i5400XL mobo, 2 x 2.5GHz Quad Core processors.

It has 8 memory slots, I currently have 4 slots filled with 2Gb memory modules. If I fill the other slots then the PC won't boot at all, except if I mess about with the memory channel parameters in the BIOS ( before installing the memory) and change it from interleaved to Sequential, in which case it boots but only POSTs 4Gb of memory.

Tyan suggested that I may not have enough power. The company that built the PC say it's a 700W power supply and that should be enough, but my guess is that they may not have built too many HD systems.

Grateful for any ideas. 8Gb memory is fine, but having spent the money I'd like to able to use the full 16Gb that I bought.

Lennie

Windows is only going to see 4GB.....Just guessing your are going to need need 4 1GB stcks of RAM to actually get your board working with a pair of sticks for each processor so it will run in dual channel mode.

Quick way to possibly tell if its the PSU would be to see if it will boot with 8GB and no cards in it.....

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. Regardless, the PC should see all the memory when it boots. I've swapped the modules around to check for a dodgy one, computer boots with any 4 of them....

Hi
I had a similar problem with switching from 4 gb to 8 gb in Windows 7 64 bit.My problem was a Asus p5kc mobo.I installed 1066mhz ddr2 memory but mobo (p35 chip) supports only 800mhz,but the manual says it supports 1066 natively..I had to give up a higer frequency and windows started to boot up with all 8gb of memory ..or do more changes in overclocking area of mobo(memory voltage,CPU voltage NB frequency..).It also worked when I changed memory settings from 5-5-5-15 which is default on memory sticks, to 5-6-6-18 and than windows also would boot up...but due to overheating components of mobo which resulted in system instability, finaly I gave up and sticked to 800mhz and whole system works nice .Hope this helps some way..
